What is a +44 phone number?

1. 0044 or +44 is the international dialling code from overseas to the UK, it is used as a prefix to a UK number replacing the first 0. 0034 or +34 is the one for Spain.

Do you need the 0 with +44?

44 is the country code for the UK. 0 is the long distance dialling code within the UK, from STD (subscriber Trunk Dialling) used to access the ‘long distance’ or trunk network. You don’t need it if dialling the UK from overseas as the call arrives already on the trunk network.

Is +44 the same as 0044?

Always use the prefix, regardless. edit: +44 that is, rather than 0044since not all countries necessarily use 00 for international. Even if some UK numbers work, changing the prefix in your phone book to 0044 means there’s no doubt about it.
