What is transaction authorization?
Authorization is the process through which a merchant obtains permission from a customer’s card issuing bank to accept the card for payment. Authorization involves assessing the card’s transaction risk and, if approved, reserving the sales amount on the cardholder’s account.

How long does it take to authorize a transaction?
Credit card transactions typically take 48 hours to settle. An authorization is issued immediately; however, it takes 48 hours for the money to be moved.
How do you settle Auth only transactions?
Tap on right-side menu. Tap on “Auth-Only’” option. Enter the amount and swipe card as you normally would. When an ‘Auth-Only’ transaction is ready to be captured/closed, you may do so by going to the Settlements App > Transactions > Auth-Only tab and mark the transaction as Closed.
Is Authorize.Net free?

If a business does not obtain processing through Authorize.net it will have to purchase these services individually at a cost of about $10 per month.
